Just a comment from a real novice. I belong to several forums or snake communities or whatever you care to call them. I mostly find that when a novice asks a legitimate question about a concern they may have about their pet or breeder, they are ridiculed, humiliated,or just plain ignored. You seem to have to be in the "circle". If you are not too bad.
Beginners do not know everything and need to learn. The best way to learn is to ask.I am sure all of the "PRO'S" were not born with all of the knowledge they now possess.
THIS GROUP SEEMS TO BE DIFFERENT. WHEN I ASKED A QUESTION SOMEONE ACTUALLY ANSWERED ME. AND VERY POLITELY. THANK YOU.
I HAVE ALSO BEEN READING OTHER QUESTIONS AND THE PATTERN IS THE SAME. THANK YOU GUYS FOR ACTUALLY CARING ABOUT US AND FOR SHARING YOUR VALUABLE KNOWLEDGE WITH US. LORD KNOWS WE NEED ALL THE HELP WE CAN GET!

I agree 100%. I belong to other forums also, mostly I go there to read and learn. I posted a couple of times, and barely got any replies so I quit posting. I come to these places to learn about my new "passion", corn snakes, and most people on those forums are a "clique" (for lack of a better word). They talk to each other, but when a new member posts, the posts are read, but hardly ever replied too. I feel that my questions are not "stupid" but obviously others do. I hope that I get better feedback here.

I know what you mean. I am somewhat skilled with ball pythons and when I go into these groups and someone asks a simple question, it seems like people just get a rise out of making them feel dumb. And when they aren't making fun of others all they seem to want to talk about is explicit subjects. There are other boards for things like that if that's how they get their jollies. I just don't see why they have to go in to a "reptile" chat if they are not going to talk about reptiles.

That being said, let me tell you about our (me and my husband) ball pythons. Our male is Houdini; he will be 4 years old in November. Our female is Angel; she just turned 3 years old in May. They are both our babies and we would do anything for them. As soon as I can figure out how to work our new scanner I will scan some pictures in and upload them. We just bought them a new tank yeaterday. They got large enough for a 30 gallon breeder. We also feed them each one small rat, once a week.

Our other pets are Yin, our male betta fish and Roswell, our hairless cat (also a male). We were able to borrow a digital camera and get pictures of the kitty but the snakes just weren't in the mood to be photographed at the time. Roswell's picture can be found on the featured feline section of the cat hobbyist area.

What kind of reptiles or other pets do you guys have?
