lol sweet, that is probably the first piece of evidence I've ever seen of a southern preying on rodents, even scented. A couple more feedings on scented and it will probably take unscented, at which point I'll have to buy it from you lol.

I'm going to offer "Giant" a salamander-scented large pinky later on today, she's in shed, so it's the best time to trick her.

Yea, well it was scented but she attacked it and chewed it up like she was using her venom to kill it. She chewed it like a regal chews a lizard. Neat stuff. Perhaps I can introduce steroids and have a mega southern eating live rats and chasing the kids off the block. lol.

... I had one that would do that but earthworms were cheaper and easier for me to use on them so...
Anyway, have you had your neonates grab a worm that was way too big for them and sort of pull on one end while holding/pinning the worm until it broke thereby getting a smaller more manageable meal?? I have had many of mine do that.

Yea, they sorta know from instinct that if they mess with a big worm that it will itself break in two pieces or they can twist their head to help the process. Heck, I had a dozen or more in a 10 gallon and would dump in worms and fish and it was an all out war in there for a good 15 minutes. And if I did not break the worms myself, I would have lost a few snakes due to one eating the other by mistake. One would get one end of a worm and the other get the other side and when they met, they did not kiss like ther Lady and the Tramp sucking a noodle. Instead, one ate the other. Hey, will Disney make a movie about that? I will hire an agent tomorrow.

Mark, basically all small ringneck snakes will do that with a worm, I like to keep track of what mine eat, and make sure they get the biggest meal possible, so I always put my smallest ringneck into a cup and throw his food in there. He's gotten quite used to it, to the point where he's looking like he's begging for food when I take him out of the enclosure. Yesterday he got down 2 worms and a 3 inch salamander tail that was pretty thick, and he's only about 6 inches long.
