American Toads Calling in PA

jsc230 Apr 23, 2005 02:15 PM

Lots of frogs and toads out now, but the only ones I found the otherday that would let me photograph them were American Toads. They were so preoccupied with breeding that you could pick them up and touch them with no problems. The only thing they would do is sound their release call. All in all there were about 20-30 in this small 10x20 foot temporary pool. Here are the best pictures from the night. All photos taken with a P S Kodak with a flashlight and camera flash as the light sources. (all resized from 2500x470 pixels)

Hopefully my webserver allows these to be seen.

Here is one calling.

Same one a little closer.

Here is one swimming.

I hope you enjoyed these.
