We found this lovely snake in the yard today. Its still a baby but so beautiful. 
Not sure what it is but I was thinking a King snake but not really sure on that either. Thanks for looking.

Yeah I got to looking up picture of snakes in NC and I think it is as well. Cause the picture looked so much like that one. Thanks for looking.

Black ratsnake, agreed. Knowing it was found in NC helps. Key is the white between the scales.
