This one is looking to be a female and unfortunately I didn't produce her. I actually got an amazing deal on her, another amel and 6 hets a week or two ago from a guy who is getting out of all his reptiles. I'll be keeping the amels and probably selling a couple of the hets, especially once I find out if the other amel is a male or not. The 1.1 het amels I got a couple months ago are looking like 2.0 now, so I'll surely sell one of those. It's frustrating dealing with hatchlings when you want to start a breeding project, especially when you don't get the sexes you thought you were getting
Zero, I'd post a pic of my setups, but they're almost identical to my leo setups. The hatchlings have little dishes of water (or juice bottle caps), a dish of calcium, and a hide. I just try to mist the AFT hides every day, where I let the leos go a couple days sometimes. They're all kept on paper towels because they're in racks. I feed all of them crickets for now, but will see which ones will eat mealies soon. I only have one male who does so far; he's about a year old. When I had a pair in a terrarium, I used bed-a-beast (ground coconut husk you buy in brick form that you add water to). It was great, because it held humidity well. I'll likely set up another in the coming months above the tank the GeckoCam is on.
Thanks for all the replies; I'll keep posting pics as she matures and I'll get pics of the other amel online soon. It looks like a normal cream colored amel now, but I hope it gets the same orange coloring as it gets older.
Rob, Sorry I can't donate right now. Maybe we could work something out in the future for a trade. I wish people really would donate reptiles; I'd stand on the traffic median with a sign 'Will work for geckos!' or something.
