fleas and chameleons?

tonight my wife found a few fleas on her dog(it's a little chihauhua). can or will fleas affect/attack my chameleon. if so what can i use to help my chameleon?

I'm pretty sure fleas are somewhat specific about what they attack, sticking to mammals. I somewhat suspect that some even have a species preferance, meaning that dog fleas prefer dogs, rat fleas prefer rats, etc...
Don't think fleas attack birds/reptiles. Mites, yes.
