After a hour of googling, all I found was that Copes GTF is more of a savanah species, whereas the the eastern grey is a mesic forest species, wich I already knew.
I have found both species ( I think ) feeding in the same area(under a light at the forests edge). I would think there must be niche diffences other then a slightly different habitat. Wouldn't they have different habits? Or are we witnessing the fall of the diploid species and the rise of the tetraploid? Having duplicate chromosomes would seem to be an advantage. Maybe all we'll see a few years is Hyla versicolor.
Has anyone done/seen any research on the subject? I would appreciate any insight on this.
Evolution in action?
