Do you feed live or frozen??

melissa1977 Apr 24, 2005 10:34 AM

My male ball will be 7 yrs this August. This is the third breeding season he's gone off feeding. The other two years he's had no problem going back to eating with frozen. I always fed him frozen no problem. This year he won't even look at a thawed rat. I've gone through 5 of them now and not one bite. I tried a very large live mouse 5 days ago and BAM not even 30 seconda later he's wrapped around the mouse. I fed him a live small rat yesterday no problem either. What could I do to try to get him to take frozen again. He used to eat large rat's and I'm afraid of him getting hurt from feeding live.
Thanks

Hello , I posted above under"Menu is not your choice" , I wasn't sure how to link the titles , I had a simalr issue , I have to feed live to some key animals....that is all they want , they just switched one day and did not want F/T any more , just watch when feeding . Good luck

Melissa - once you get him established again, you can try switching him back to F/T. My personal preference, is F/T but I do have one hold out for live, although she can take bigger, I stick to small rats or several mice and keep an eye on her during feeding to prevent accidents. I'm still hoping to convert her eventually, but I'm not holding my breath. Hope this helps.
