Picky Eater

Turtledude57 Apr 24, 2005 02:17 PM

My tiger salamander Zorro is an annoyingly picky eater. He'd eat zillions of worms and crickets if i didn't stop him, but the second i put vitamin powder on one of them, he loses his appetite. Sometimes it takes 15 minutes or more to get him to eat them, and by that time most of the vitamin powder has rubbed off. Any ideas on how i can get him to eat worms and crickets with vitamin powder?

thanx in advance,
Ryan

Actually as far as I remember earth worms can be a 100% staple diet for salamanders. So there would be no need to powder them, also what brand of vit are you useing? might try switching if they dont like it.

Worms aren't his complete diet. He eats about 75% worms and 25% crickets, so wouldn't i still have to but vitamin powder on his food occasionally? I have switched from terrafauna to reptocal but it hasn't made any difference, so I don't think it's just a certain brand.

You could feed the dust to the food as a gutload. But this sounds like a pretty good diet, and I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Thanx for the help. Just wanted to be sure Zorro got what he needed.
