New cage acclimation, questions

TheDrew1 Apr 24, 2005 07:37 PM

I got my new adult male dragon this week, Guido. Hes really cool. I have him in a temporary cage right now, its a 2X2X4 screen cage i used for my chameleons and i just turned it on its side. Ive got a plastic playlike structure and a log under the basking side (and a rock farther down) and on the cool side is a hiding log. On the ground is newspaper. The basking temps get between 110 and 120 and around 80 on the cooler side. Since hes been here all i have been able to get him to eat is worms but not lettuce or the pellets he ate with his former owner. Also every now and then hell go to a specific part of the cage and start scratching and rubbing his head at the wall, as if he wanted to get out. Also hes a lot darker then he was before he arrive with me. please give me some advice on what to do.

THanks

It does take a week or two for a dragon to get used to his new home. being a young dragon he will be more interested in crickets than greens. Make sure he is well hydrated and don't offer lettace as it has very little nutritional value. It is better to feed collard greens, dandelion greens, endive and other high in calcium greens.
