Not something usual... the humidity in your snake's enclosure may just be really low. you can soak your snake in a bit of water, or put some water in the tub and let your snake "swim" around in there, not too much water, just enough to cover the snake's body, if it's a hatchling you can do this in a small container (not a deli cup...possibly a plastic shoe box).

if you're up to it you can remove the shed manually

Definately sounds like your humidity is too low. I like to add humidity after my snakes are opaque (blue eyed and dull skinned) and at the point where they clear up. This helps to ease the shedding process. I take note of when the snake is opaque, and then when I see it clear up, I add wet paper towels to the hide boxes and keep them damp (not dripping wet). Make sure to remove them after your snake sheds though. Another trick I tend to use is I purposely use the clay flower pot bases over my heat pads to absorb the heat and keep my snakes from laying on the glass directly over the heat pads. The clay pots will soak up water so I pour some water into the base, just enough to cover the bottom of it. The heat will cause the water to evaporate and keep the hide box nice and moist. I only do this at the previous mentioned time between when the snake has cleared up from being opaque.

If your using aquariums with screen tops as an enclosure, try blocking off half the top with cardboard or other material to keep some of the humidity in the tank.

Best of luck.
