Two alive and one dead!

Markus Jayne Apr 25, 2005 10:25 AM

Seeing we are smack dab in the middle of the laying season I thought I would post some recent pics of eggs.

I've always wanted to get a good egg candling shot and this one seems to tell the tale nicely.

This clutch was just laid this weekend. It had 7 normal good eggs and one very small 50 gram egg. It is fertile but I highly doubt it will go full term.

Some people have questioned whether or not bad eggs will affect good eggs when they go bad. This egg is 30 days into incubation. I have had several infertile eggs mold like this without affecting the good ones.

Thanks for looking!

Markus

Great Pictures. We have a eggs that is bad and in the middle of the clutch like your last picture. Im always so worried that it will affect the other eggs. Have you ever had any that did kill the other eggs? Some eggs look like they are bad but low and behold they hatch. Its great!!! Good Luck. You guys have some great snakes!!

Thanks Brandie!

I've never had a moldy egg affect good ones. I've even had eggs that in the last weeks look like they are bad and they hatch out fine. Those eggs by the way were not attched to other moldy eggs.

Moldy eggs CAN affect the other good eggs. It doesn't happen often, usually the other eggs come out fine but it has happened to me and I figure why take needless chances? If it can be saftly done, I'll cut the bad egg out of the clump.

Now i have my fingers crossed with this one

Things are a little more obvious now...thanks.
