New RETF color change

eclipse144 Apr 25, 2005 11:10 AM

I bought 2 RETF yesterday at the White Plains show. I set them up last night in a temporary dwelling until I can set up something a little bigger and permanent. I noticed the were both still awake this AM around 6, which I think is OK. I gave them a bunch of tiny crickets they seem to have eaten some which is good. One of them has me concerned though. When I went to bed they were both the same color real bright, neon green. This AM one was significantly darker almost olive colored. He was up and about like the other just way darker. Is this caused by stress? It is a new enviroment for them I suppose it could be stressful for them. I'm just kinda new at this, could use a little guidance. Thanks

Red eyed tree frogs change a purple color at night , and the brighten back up to a green color during the day. There is nouthing wtong with your red eye.

Yeah, since then I figured out their pattern of changing colors. Truly amazing little creatures.

He is probably cold. They change colors to attract more heat. Also he might be a little stressed out from the change. Don't worry.
