Is this conditioning or ...

xelabou Apr 25, 2005 11:54 AM

collared will do dumb thing only when begging for food ?

As this is very difficult to give food to collared as a reward for a wanted move, (Like "give hand", "roll over" or "scratch the window", ) like we can do to a dog; my girlfriend and I decided to ring a bell each time this is cricket time.

This last for 2 weeks and she demonstrate little intelligence now.

Past 3 days, she was seen climbing in the cactus to catch food directly from the "powdering" bowl.

Yesterday, just after the bell, she was already in the cactus to be ready for eating while I arrived with her snack.

There is only one negative point, I dislike guests who tries the bell and dont have crix on them!!!!

it's like pavlov's dog. i think my collareds have little bit of conditioning to them because when they hear me shaking up the crickets to powder them, they run to the side of the cage i open to feed them what smart little boogers

i think walter would have lots of pick up lines, kaiser would probably scream alot, gertie seems like the silent type and ivan would probably say "what in the heck are you doing to me now you crazy woman and why did you cage me with the horny one?"
all i know eve, is if they talked, your room would get really loud

That's so funny conditioning your lizard. Now you've got me wondering if lizards can do tricks.

Cory bit me several times today, and I can't get the wild out of him. With all the handling he had since he was a wee babe too. He does agree somewhat to being held, no pets. No appreciation for food coming from me. A certain awe though now that he's older and sees I hold a gorgeous, C. bicinctores collared female (Annabella). He'll look at her very interested then he'll look at me I let him visit her on the carpet again and it's so cute to see him meet her and look at her and then me again and again.

is cory a bicinctores? because i have been wondering if bicinctores are just more crazy than the other guys because kaiser is so untrusting and wants to bite me half the time. he is really nice to other lizards but i get the open mouth treatment alot from him and he is always puffed up when i hold him. has anyone else noticed their bicinctores being cranky?

Yes, I think they are. The only collareds who ever showed an "attitude" toward me were bicintores. I sure love 'em, though!
