Heating at night with the AC

Knot Jul 10, 2003 11:25 PM

I figure out a way to do this without bothering the snake when heating up the cage when the AC is on at night. I use a really high wattage like 150 to 200 day night bulb in the heatlamp and I wrap the whole lamp fixture with alluminum foil. This way it only gives out heat but not light. Neat hun! I thought I share this technigue with you guys. If anybody have any advice or anything to add, feel free to post a reply, please! I would be really appreative.

Here's the picture, it's a little cooler with this, but more efficient than night bulb.

if you tank is all glass, this is what i've found to keep temps up with the ac on....i covered the tank with posterboard on all sides except the front n bottom...then put a blanket over the top n back with a towel over half of the front of the tank...with a 65 watt indoor flood light bulb.....i have used a 150 watt..but sometimes that gets too hot...but the 65 seems to keep the temp right around 89-91...and doesn't burn anything as long as you keep the bulb away from the blanket

Thanks! You gave me an idea...I want to use the insultion board that they use for construction to put on top and and the side of the tank to keep the heat in the cage.

Thanks for the advice! I use the wool blanket that I have to cover the top of the tank. First I use a plastic wrap instead of the aluminum foil, because it conduct heat, to wrap the the lid; then I wraped the blanket around the top where is the greatest heat lost.
