After many trips to Florida over the years wife and I vacationed in Georgia instead. Jekyll Island was a pleasure to visit, just a few miles off Rt. 95 near Brunswick. Last Friday she sent me out on a beer run and I had time to visit a gopher tortoise colony in one of the state parks. It was interesting to observe burrows only a few hundred feet from campsites. Two adult tortoises were out, but they dove out of sight before I could get a picture. Even though I saw no indigos, it was a fine experience just to walk those sandy paths. Saw two racers and several lizards.
