Chubby frog owner

smileygus Apr 25, 2005 09:46 PM

I saw a picture of a chubby frog on my computer this weekend. It got me interested in seeing one. The next day I happened to see one when I went to petsmart! It was in a tank with a box turtle and a pacman frog. The lady that works there said the the pacman ate the other chubby frog....
She got it out so I could see it and I fell in love. So I have decided to buy one when I go to the reptile show next month.
I was wondering what chubby frog owners think of them as pets? I have read that they croak really loud all of the time. I have also read that you can't really handle them.
I was curious about their croaking. I have a whites tree frog that keeps me awake and I am not looking for something louder and more vocal. hahaha
Thank you!

Ive kept a chubby frog for a few months now..
I dont see him often, unless I wake up ant night and turn on the lights, usually, hes climbing the stick in his enclosure. I ahve handled him a few times, and though he doesnt really like it, he doesnt try to hop off or anything.
Also, as to the craoking, its not terribly loud. When you distirb him, he mkaes sort of a mewing noise, and at night, about 30 minutes after I turn of the lights, he will do sort of a classic frog croak three of four times, and be quiet. He usually does it agian around eight.
And these little guys eat tons.

I hope this has helped,

-Zel
