Quick Plastics Question

I recently acquired Boaphile sterilite rack. It's my first rack and I was curious as to the most efficient methods of drilling holes in the boxes. I read a post a while back that mentioned soaking the boxes in a bucket of hot water prior to drilling, as it will make the drilling easier. Is there any truth to this? In addition, can I use any ol' drill for this or are some better than others? Lastly, do any of you veterans to racks feel that a certain placement of air holes may be better than another(benfits/disadvantages?) Thanks a ton.

If you want perfect holes, use a Unibit. One bit can do many hole diameters, and no soaking necessary. Any other drill bit yields less-than-nice results.

If you want fast and easy, use a soldering iron and ventilation.

I agree - I use a soldering iron - it is easy, wont crack your tubs and leaves a smooth hole with no rough edges.

I tried drilling holes one time...cracked the tub. stick with the soldering iron IMO.

That's because you didn't use the Unibit. I have 30 tubs all drilled with this tool. No cracks. Holes look like a machine made them. But soldering iron is still far less time comsuming.
