Beardie Threw Up - Advice Please

warbril Apr 26, 2005 03:49 AM

I usually stay up late and my beardie's cage is in our living room. She usually konks out around 7:30pm and sleeps through the night.

Tonight around 12 midnight, she woke up and pressed her head against the glass to get my attention. I took her out, petted her and tried to put her back in so she could go back to sleep and she wouldn't have it, kept crawling up my arm refusing to go back.

whe I repositioned her so I could put her back in, she threw up. My dragon has never done this and is 3 years old. Lots of saliva and a little bit of broken down food, mostly saliva/liquid though.

Is this normal? She is wrapped up in her blankie and sleeping on me right now and I don't want to put her back until I know she is okay. she is happy and sleepin on me but doesnt want to go back in cage.

any advie would help.

She is a very healthy ad hearty dragon with good appetite and no health problems

here is a pic of her 3 weeks ago:

maybe the dragon consumed to much of some thing that made her stomach upset. I know my dragon sleeps soundly every night through the whole night with no problems... Like i said it was probubly something it ingested.... did you feed any thing different that day? Any way im sure he/she will recover. i had an incidint when my beardie asperated some medication and she was making weird noises like blowing noises.. so i put her back in her cage and watched her and she soon sprung back and it was like nothing had happened..good luck i hope this makes you feel better. If this does keep up however bring it to a vet.

There are several reasons why a dragon throws up, either they ate too much food, the temps are not hot enough to properly digest or they were fed too close to lights out. These are the more common reasons that can be easily dealt with. Other causes is severe parasite infections or respiratory infection, but these have other symptoms (wheezing, bubbling mucus on mouth or nostrals, really smelly and/or runny poor).
