I had gotten my first snake; a creamsicle corn at a pet shop which as it turned out was impacted with repti-bark at purchase and died shortly after. Then I had a seemingly healthy normal corn die the night after the local herp friendly vet gave him a clean bill of health. (I have since found a much more knowledgeable herp vet)
After saying I was done, it wasn't meant to be I got over that when my mom showed up with a normal unsexed corn snake 7,21,2004. At first I was mad that she got it at a pet shop. Fortunately it was a better shop than I expected and after an initial 2-3 month period where it regurgitated three times. (Once was too large a mouse, other two no reason determined perhaps just slow in getting stomach back in order)
I am pleased to say since then everything has been great with Kula. Kula has put on some noticeable girth, though doesn't seem much in the way of length, then again it sure is hard to try to measure them. No problems with shedding, eats once a week with no problems, all normal defecations, seems to not mind being handled a few times a week.
I feel I owe the bulk of the knowledge I have gained from Kathy and Bill Love's book, as well and the help of this forum and it's members. Marcel for the advice on the diet plan to help Kula gain some weight after he told me he thought his neck was too skinny for his size. Draybar, Gargoyle, Tigergenesis, Traci, Jyohe, Spardawolf, Sasheena, Mom2AutumnNReign and the others for their kind words and help through the loss of my first two snakes (I am missing some I know please forgive me).
This turned out to be longer than I expected, so in return for reading this, another picture of Kula from 3,13,2005.
