Male and female

Herp-Keeper Apr 26, 2005 10:12 AM

Hey everyone,
I am getting another leo to house with the one I have now, but I was just wondering...If I put a male and female together when they're fairly small (4-4.5 inches), they will wait until they are sexually mature to mate right?

No. It is generally not a good idea to put a male and a female together until they are of breeding age because breeding too early can lead to some serious health problems. Also, if you want to keep multiple leo's its best to do a ratio of one male to two females, this way the one female doesn't get overbred and suffer the health consequences.

And don't forget, even if you were to put the two in together at a young age you will still need to quarentine the new one for 60-90days before introducing her to your other one.

Hope this helps
Good luck with your leos!
