My cornsnake came to school with me today! (UCONN)I took her in a kritter keeper because my english class wanted me to bring in one of my lizards, but it is too cold (59 degrees F)so I took Corny instead. I packed a waterbowl, fuzzy on ice (maybe the kids will want to see her eat, its about that time of the week), some of her sheds, and a cup to defrost the fuzzy in.

However, we had an unexpected event. My Management class got out early so i took the time to go into a small, private bathroom to straighten my hair via straightening iron (for guys, this is like a curling iron but flat not round). Well, in the middle of doing my hair, the FIRE ALARM went off! I picked up my snake and left the building, cursing the idiot who pulled the alarm/set a fire/etc. Fire trucks came, everyone evacuated, we waited outside until the fire fighters gave the OK to reenter the building. So, Corny and I went back into the bathroom to finish my hair. 5 minutes later, the fire alarm went off again! This time I didn't leave right away, thinking it was a system problem & that this thing would be going on & off all day. So my hair was 3/4 when a fire fighter came in. "do i have to leave?" i asked. "uhh, (he eyes the straightening iron) were you in here before? Because if you were, i believe your hair thing set the fire alarm off." I could have died of embarassment. (corny was embarrassed too). Still today, people are talking about our not 1 but 2 fire evacuations.

Ahh...the day is not over yet.
