for those with new baby Savannah Monitors...

robyn@ProExotics Apr 26, 2005 04:15 PM

check out the link below for our caresheet. follow it closely, and you will stand the best chance of having success (a live monitor 3 months from now, that's a start).

also, SERIOUSLY CONSIDER getting a fecal done (at the least) and a vet visit to establish a basis of health. many imported Savannahs carry a heavy parasite load, and if not addressed immediately, it can be the death knell for your animal.

for any of you regulars that are going to these Spring Death Shows, i sure could use a good pic of the 10 gallon tank with 50 emaciated Savs in it for our site, if you happen to have a camera along : )

I will be going to the Dixie show saturday to stock up on mice. I will try to remember my camera. Then I get to drive over and pick up a sav from someone that decided they got in over thier head.
Then I make one more stop and pick up a bucket of roaches. It will be a busy day.

I don't know what goes on at the US herp shows (I wish I could make the trip down for a few of them ) but I never realized they have reached petstore status. The few shows up here in Alberta have been pretty good as far pet welfare goes (I'm not blind, there are one or two yahoos still trying to sell a "tame" black tree monitor at 75F)

Sorry Robyn, no loads of half dead savs at the Dixie show today.
I was told by a vender that someone had a box full of dead hatchlings that didn't live through the drive to the show.
