Hey Al, I was just curious, but how many herps do you have? It seems like you always have a new and fascinating creature to share with us
Ian
Ian:
I don't keep "wacky" Elapids because my snake room is small 10 x 13 feet, no place to manuver or flee from a Mamba or Forest Cobra. I am somewhat space limited but this is my current inventory.

0.1 Bitis arietans
0.1 Bitis nasicornis
0.1 Bitis cauldalis
1.0 Bothrops asper
0.1 Cerastes cerastes
0.1 Cerastes vipera
1.1 Echis carinatus
1.0 Echis ocellatus
0.1 Agkistrodon taylori
2.1.0 Atheris squamigera*
1.0 Atheris nitschei
0.1 Trimeresurus purpureomaculatus
0.1 Psedocerastes fieldi
*The two unsexed were born in Feb 05.

Nice collection Al!...looks like you need to pair up a few animals and have some additional fun (I'd be happy to help!). If you are interested in an easy to keep elapid, how about one of the Aspidelaps clan? They are quickly becoming one of my favorite venomous snakes to work with; all of the personality and charm of a big cobra wrapped into a beautiful little 2' package; easy to work with, don't need a lot of space, and very hardy in a captive setting (and gorgeous!). I am acquiring another trio and hope to have hatchlings in a year or two (and would be happy to send one your way).
How's that A. nitschei doing? I am always curious to talk to other folks working with them as they are a species that has typically not done well in a captive setting. My colony is nearing the 3-year mark and I am hoping to pair them up soon. If you have any good pics of your's I'd love to borrow one for my presentation I am giving on them at the IHS in Phoenix (are you going?). Rob
