Anyone? She doesnt appear to be eating either, but she is keeping herself well hydrated.
As far as I remember there is no specific color a gravid female will take. Color variations in Jacksons are due to genetics and stress. In general they will turn black or a mixture of black and their normal coloration when under stress. There is also a red phase Jackson that originated in the Hawaiian wild population, but this red phase only manifests itself in the females. Sometimes it shows up in males, but slowly fades at about 6 months I believe.
As for signaling to males of her condition, a female jackson may show stress colorations at the site of a possible suitor. They will also rock from side to side. This is usually enough for the male to get the hint.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong on any points, as I'm going on 3 year old memory here.
