First time boa breeding...

Rich_Crowley Apr 26, 2005 07:33 PM

This birthing is from my long time columbian boa constrictor matched up with a friends very nice hypo-ish male. I figured I would experience live birth once to see what it is like. The female in the picture began around 6am and by lunch was done. She was 55lbs prior to breeding and over 9ft in length. The total was 30 slugs, 1 stillborn and 16 live babies. Could have done better, but it was her first time. She was captive bred and born in 1993 and this was her first and most likely last breeding. Enjoy!

Geeez Rich they almost look like they are 2 months old already. Our Kids did a pretty good job I'd say. Those lightere ones are gonna be the spitting Image of Dad, course mom isn't too far off that color too. Woohoo Can't wait to see them.

Congratulations on the beautiful litter of messy babies! I have a big virgin female that was produced in 1994. She too is well over 9 feet long and around 50 lbs. I hope to breed her next year to one of my salmon males. It's nice to see a bug'un reproduce. Once again, congrats Rich! Take care.

I must say the first time each year is the most exciting!

Congrats on the beautiful babies
