I was changing some plants in my Brev tank today and I found three HUGE eggs. Well, huge compared to a brev. I'd say they are about 12 mm. I have NO idea how my little girl squeezed them out. I have to reread all my breeding info, it's been a while. I ordered 2 fruitfly cultures, and I'm going to hatch some silkworm eggs soon for them. Are there any hints any ofyou can give me to figure out how old the eggs are? She's been going around the bottom of the tank for a few weeks now, so my money is on 2-3 weeks. But, it could be more.
Lele, what's wrong with luna?? I haven't been on here in a while...

Lindsay,
It's a little tricky to date eggs that small, but they definately grow with time, and if they look big, they may be further along than you think. I've hatched out several Brevs a little while back, and the incubations averaged around 65 days at mid 70's. The babies hatched with an impressive hatch rate, and the kids were TINY, probably no more than 3/4" long, with basically no tail. I fed them on mostly Melanogastor flies, and pinhead crickets. Anothing thing I noticed is that they grow very slowly. After 3-4 months, they're really not a whole lot bigger than when they hatched, eating well and everything. Here's a link to a picture of a newly hatched Brev with vermiculite still stuck to his nose. Enjoy!

I agree with Tyler, if the eggs look pretty large compared to the cham then they are probably within 2 or 3 weeks of hatching (guess). I have a cluth of 2 that are about 2 weeks away from hatching and the eggs have really grown considerably compared to when they were laid. Good luck with them.
