bear with me.. i have a few more incubation questions....

fcwegnm0 Jul 11, 2003 02:01 AM

i was scanning through the kingsnake photo gallery and i saw a picture of this:

eggs in substrate(vermiculite? dunno.) and in a tupperware container.. lid on the tupperware, maybe air holes, couldnt see that much detail. so, the tupperware with the eggs was sitting in a 10 gallon tanks with an incandescent bulb on the screen.

would this work for gecko eggs? of course, use the right wattage bulb and keep it the right distance from the eggs to get the correct temperature... seems like it would work..

im really trying to avoid buying an incubator. i will if its necessary to the safety and health of the eggs.. but and extra $50 is kinda hard to come up with. like i said, i WILL buy one if necessary...

thanks in advance.. im sure i spelled stuff wrong.. it is 3:00 am... dave

If you go to Albeys at www.albeysreptiles.com and look under incubation. Use this method and don't use air holes just crack the lid open once a week. You can keep this anywhere the temp stays steady where you want it.

Even if your on the right track you will get run over if you just sit there

get a large glass jar, a water heater, a large styrofoam container($3 at home depot i think it was) a thermometer, and a tupperware container with holes in it.

fill the glass jar with water. put the water heater in it. put the jar with heater in the big styrofoam container(there should still be half or more of the foam container empty. and put a half inch of vermiculite in the tupperware container. and make the tupperware container sit up off the bottom of the foam container, (the tupperware has lid with holes on securely( you dont want your little guys falling out and being on the bottom) wich slighty fills with water as the incubatiopn progresses. you may want to add water to the jar to keep it at a certain level so the temp stays the same.

P.s sorry if its long
