She's eating! Just like you said!

Greetings and salutations! My Anaconda is eating her first meal just over two weeks after I got her. You anaconda experts know what you're talking about. When I offered her food while she was out of her water bowl she was very uninterested. However, when she was comphertably sitting in her water bowls BOOM!!

She wasn't very interested in dead pray, so I did what I don't recommend, (and am trying to change, in her case) and fed her live. I'll tell you what though, the rat didn't have a chance to do any damage to the snake.

I keep a number of California Kingsnakes which have a EXCELLENT feeding response, but they are VERY clumsy. To see the difference in intelligence from a California Kingsnake striking, and an Anaconda striking was amazing. They're like the perfect hunters! Thanks for the help all!

Nathan

Cal Kings don't grow up to feed on capybara, white-tailed deer, or caiman, so I guess they can afford to be a little clumsy. Eunectes appear to be the most powerful and efficient constrictors of any snake genera in terms of immobilizing their prey. Thanks,

Kelly
