i just got an eastern box turtle and i waswondering what plants are safe?

You can find a list at www.anapsid.org/resources/edible.html but do keep in mind that it is not all inclusive. There are several links to both safe and toxic plants at www.anapsid.org/mainplants.html

just be sure and stay away from cedar bark as far as substrate goes.

Box turtles are not big on eating their surrounding plants, unless they are starving and I'm sure you will be feeding your new turtle well (For infor on diet please check out my website at www.boxturtlesite.org) You can put most native plants in a box turtle pen. Really good ones would be ground covers, grasses and low shrubs they can hid under. If you want to plant edible plants use strawberries! Even if they can't get the fruit, they will like the slugs attracted to the plants.
