What size water dish do you use?

repzoo44 Apr 27, 2005 02:31 PM

How big of a dish do you guys use for your large balls. Do you bother with large ones or do you just use small ones. I have the larger size with the larger balls but Im thinking of going with the small size and using the deli cups in them. I get tired of cleaning them out all the time as they seem to get dirty very quickly. Thanks for any input.

I've been intrigued by the deli cup idea for a while now...but I haven't really spent the time to decide exactly which sizes I would need.

Let me know if it works...

I've got a wide assortment of watering dishes and I don't like any of them. Most of them are size appropriate ceramic dishes I've picked up at the 99 cent store and they end up getting tipped, or full of aspen or dragged around the the tub and it's just a pain and I have to constantly clean them up.

I thought about using the pipe fitting method and attaching it to the side of the tub, but that would be an extra hastle on tub cleaning day.

So today I ordered 5" crocks for one of my racks. I thought I'd give it a go see how it works. I don't have many "soakers" anyway so I think the littler crocks will work fine, I'll have to keep an eye on the humidity tho.

I use heavy crocks with a 16 oz. deli cup inside for all my adults. I tried using 4 inch PVC couplers with the deli cups but they tipped over. I ended up drilling a hole through the coupler and through the side of the tub and screwed it in place. That solved the problem in that rack. Deli cups make the water change so much quicker and no disinfecting bowls. Ron
