feeding f/t rats

caw8959 Apr 27, 2005 05:00 PM

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to get my two balls to eat f/t rats. They have been eating f/t mice since I got them 2-3 yrs ago. The female ate a small rat the first time I offered it 2 weeks ago but has since refused. The male doesn't want anything to do with them. I don't really care if they switch completely to rats or not but I bought 30 and would hate for them to go to waste.

You could toss the rats in a bag full of soiled mouse substrate (shavings). This would scent the rats similar to mice.

Or you could simply wait. If the choice is between rats or starvation...I'm pretty sure the animals will choose rats. At least that's my theory.

Good luck...
