Mama Black Back.

RyanT Apr 27, 2005 05:04 PM

Snapped a pic of my adult female black back last night. Will know in 3 weeks if she's a het albino. I wasn't a big fan of balls until I got this girl. When she laid eggs, I fell in love. Can't wait to do it again. If she turns out to not be a het, I'd love to see what she would produce when bred to a clown. She already almost has the pattern. Also, she's only eaten one rat since she laid the eggs. Her weight is already looking pretty good again.

Hey Ryan,

I was surprised in looking at your picture to see how similar
it was to one of my blackbacks (pic below in shed). No alien
eyes. Very clean pattern. What also jumped out at me, and it
might just be something with your picture, is something I
noticed on mine...an occasional white scale. Hard to tell from
your picture...any random SINGLE white scales?
My female produced one baby female in '03 (and 7 slugs...ugh!).
However, the good news is that the baby offspring was almost
a carbon copy of the mother! She's even got the occasional
random white scale...Anyone else notice this in any of their
blackbacks???

Let us know how she turn out. I may be interested in a male
if my female doesn't produce for me this season (since they
look so similar...).

Good luck!

They do look similar. I really like black backs. I think they're alot more attractive than the usual pattern. I got mine as a Bob Clark 100% het albino. That remains to be seen. Also, no mine doesn't have any white scales. That's pretty cool though. I'd assume she's genetic too if her one offspring looked just like her. I'm hoping for a white back albino when this clutch hatches in 3 weeks but not counting on it. Even if she isn't a het, the babies will at least be 50% hets. There will be pics posted as soon as they hatch believe me. I'll let you know when that happens. Thanks for the response. Ryan.
