Mine does that all the time. Especially around shedding time. Not a clue why though, I mean other than when she's about to shed. Maybe it's more comfortable.

If she is shedding she will soak overnight, or so. Not every night.

Once, one of mine did that and she was ill. They do not absorb much moisture through the skin, but may soak like that when they are very dehydrated. Is she eating well otherwise? You may want to give her a few drops of Pedyalite, just to play safe...

I've been told that if your gecko is in the water dish alot then there's too much humidity. They can't stand to not have enoough moisture, nor do they like to have a little too much, therefore if they have a little too much, they just rather be in the water anyways. So I've heard anyways. Our geckos at the store (Which we finally sold one of the big guys after a year or so) used to do that when the humidity was was at moderate, but they haven't done it since we got it down to desert humidity. So I've heard anyways, not sure how much truth is in it.

Make sure your gecko has a moist retreat as well. That could be another reason he's soaking is that he has no where else to get any moisture if he's trying to shed or anything like that.

A gecko in a water dish has too much humidity?????

The office of the reptilian specialist I take mine to was the one that informed me that when they *are* dehydrated, they could soak like that. And recommended that I keep giving the lizard Pedyalite...

I'd think that if there's too much humidity in the tank they would not soak for more!

I was told that it wasn't due to too much humidity, but like that moderate spot where there's SOME humidity, but not alot. Just what I was told. I could be wrong. Ours at work stopped soaking when we lowered the humidity in the habitat (or rather when the company decided to fix the habitat so it held heat better). Therefore, originally the theory made sense.

It COULD be wrong however, which I think I stated before.
