What substrate to use?

tevans Apr 27, 2005 07:05 PM

I've been using bark substrates in my basilisk cage. The first bark I used was chipped, and my guys had no issues catching their food and not eating the bark. The replacement bark I have in there now is more stripped than chipped, and both my basilisks tend to get some in their mouth when feeding. I'm worried they'll swallow some and have issues from it, so I want to switch substrates. I need something that is easy to clean/switch, and that works in a wire cage... and that helps hold humidity (don't want much do I? :P) I'm mainly curious what everyone else uses and how it works for them.

Thanks!

Repti-carpet is good, because your basilisk can,t swallow that.
