Greeri...

jlassiter Apr 27, 2005 11:21 PM

This female came from Eric Kikel. It is a younger sibling (same parents) to the only striped Greeri in existence. Eric has the striped one now as well. She has a few aberrencies but the trait has never been proven genetic. I am still looking for a male for this one.....

She was not up to size this fall so I did not hibernate her. She is large enough now....so maybe by this fall, if you still have him I would love to take him off your hands....LOL

Ok Mark,
Since John is so indecisive, send that puppy to me.

John e-mail me so we can talk about this coming fall. LOL

Well Chris...When you get him just send him over around Thanksgiving with a clear gut for hibernation.....LOL

Man....I think it is time to expand the snake room....LOL
Many snakes will be breeding size and age next year....Fun Fun Fun....

...Times Up!.. I guess I'll just have to find a female down this way...
I bought him as a hatchling for $30. so I'm not out much..

I would have to say that he was a good find for $30...
Is he of breeding size this year?
What is the consensus from Greeri breeder for minimal size of breeding Greeri? I am asking about females particularily.
I know it would be safe to go with the 30 inch / 300 gram rule but is this criteria a little much for Greeri or is it right on?

John,

I would not get your hopes up on the striped trait proving to be genetic with those greeri. It was most likely incubation related since the striped specimen has some fused ventral scales. Furthermore, another striped specimen was never again produced from that pair of adults. I know, because I bought them from my friend here in CT who produced the striped greeri. I had the striped parents for a few years and all their offspring came out normal. Eric got them from me and has had them for a couple years now. I don't believe he's produced a striped greeri either.

None the less, it's still a very unusual and neat snake. DV

My hopes aren't high for producing a striped Greeri....I have heard the "story" about the striped Greeri numerous times and am well aware that the stripe is NOT genetic.....

I did state in my post that the trait has never been proven genetic too.........

serpentdan May 01, 2005 07:15 PM

I know you did.....I was clarifying it and throwing in my 2 cents since I use to own them.
