Hatchling (best so far) pics

deuce02 Apr 28, 2005 12:49 AM

Here are a few pics of some of my best thus far. The seasons young and im hoping for a lot more of the same. This pic is of a tang albino. This one came out a surprise because i was not aware her parents were het albino! What a bonus. Shes about 20 days old and gaining more and more orange every shed. She should be nice as an adult..

This one shows a ton of promise. Shes only 10 days old in this picture. She should turn out to be super hypo, and maybe even carrot head. Her father is a SHTCH baldy from hiss so im hoping she turns out a lot like him!

i have a few others that show promise but these two are the best so far. Hope you enjoy em.
thanks

They both look wonderful. The second one could pass as an albino, lol.
But something looks a little off on the hypos eyes. Could just be me, I hope I am wrong.

You sure are off on a great foot.

I didn't notice it at first...but I think you're right WiteLeo! It looks like an eyelid deformity to me as well. That's such a shame - it's a beatiful gecko otherwise.

If you could post a profile pic that would probably help. They don't look quite as "tweaked" in the second picture, but because both pics show mainly the top view it's hard to tell.

That is an eyelid deformity without a doubt..... The upper lids are V shaped..... You should not see so much of the leos eye ball when you take a photo from above like that or any angle from the top.... I have seen way too many of these already this year..... It could have something to do with improper incubation or not enough suppliments in the breeders diets....

deuce02 Apr 29, 2005 12:20 AM

Out of 19 hatchlings thus far this year, this has been the only one to appear this way. I provide my animals with all the necessary supplements before, during, and after. All of my breeders are of good weight and health before breeding. Nothing under 55 grams breeds. You really have to look close to notice, and until someone pointed out in the pic i didnt notice.

Look at the picture from above on that albino. Then look at the second picture you posted. There is a big difference in eyelid shape and placement.

It may not be as bad as others babies. Just make sure you don't breed him or sell him to someone who is wanting to breed. He sure has great color...sadly.

I guess one out of 19 is not bad..... Like I said, it could have something to do with incubation temps also..... Eyelid issues are not usually genetic..... But it could be.... It sucks, but the best thing to do with this hatchling is to put it down.....
