Paragon Vs Burgandy Albino

DN_Chris Apr 28, 2005 07:26 PM

im suprised there hasnt been more said about these two yet - id love to see more pictures of both - thats for sure!

so which do people prefer? Is there any news on whether or not they are infact the same thing (burgandy x some form of albino)?

If renaisance reptiles pick up on this thread.. id love to know any more about where the paragon came from (im sure many people would!)- i think its really unlikely it came form the wild but you never know i guess..

i cant help thinking its the result of two characteristics mixed together - caramel albino x pastel for example - but the pattern is too clean for pastel... anyone got any theories?

as for the burgandy albino, equally stunning animal imho. Im glad that these two stunning snakes were shared with us a while back!

They were both wild caught............

jyohe Apr 28, 2005 08:55 PM

are they both still alive?..............

they are both so hot........

as for your ideas on some of these morphs being the same or being multiples of other morphs......yes.......I believe alot are more then we think and double morphs maybe.....triples....

yep...........what you said........

would love to hear any thoughts and opinions from the people who have them... although i understand if they *do* know whats going on with these morphs im sure theyd want to keep it quiet

jyohe Apr 29, 2005 08:52 PM

they won't "know" what's going on for years after breeding to other morphs to see what is the same or different or just part of each morph in combo.....

.the one didn't eat..is it alive yet?......

other looks ok .I think it eats and lives well........

.anyways....

the wild African imports suck........even normals.......so a morph is just a wild sucky eater with nice pajamas on?.......

.........

have 8 wild balls here........4 months plus now........all ok.only 1 has eaten.and it eats gerbils..........(from my hand)..it is about 800 grams (paid for 1000 grammers)..........I had a hunch the smallest would eat first.....

If one of those two did pass away thatd be just tragic

we just brough a large stock of (we suspect) wild caught females ourselves and are experiencing the same problem, although of the group, the smallest ones do show more interest.. looks like im going to have to get some gerbils in for them!

lol @ the nice pajamas thing!

a further thought has just struck me.. i know theres a potentially huge gene pool out in the wild, but considering the number of people that keep and breed ball pythons around the world, im suprised that the vast majority of all of these stunning morphs still appear spontaneously in the wild and are brought in as imports - like the paragon and burgandy albino. i cant think of any mutations that have suddenly sprung up in captivity (except perhaps the granite) - particularly with the trade and exchange of ball pythons between breeders and collectors is oriented around those that look the most attractive / interesting. Im not counting things like the black eyed leucy though because the fireballs were different looking to begin with and were selectively bred.

The granite albino for example - another totally stunning wild caught (i believe?) morph that just came from nowhere.. and yet 'granite' ball pythons have been popping up spontaneously in collections for years, im suprised none of the various crosses - granite x pastel etc have not appeared spontaneously yet. I think the first selectively bred granite cross is the granite mojave posted here a while ago?

Although going back to the granite albino its probly got nothing to do with the "standard" granite morph? looks more like an albino burm lol, even in the shape of its head etc.

Thats the power of good old mother nature... i guess we have her to thank for the paragon, burgandy, granite albino, and countless others...

Id be interested to hear of any morphs that *did* just spring up unexpectedly from random / normal breedings in someones collection, the way i understand it theres a tiny tiny chance that anything could mutate like *that* (clicks fingers)

oh well.. just some ponderings for tonight.

ahh that makes more sense then i figured the burgundy albino was a cb cross of some kind. Both totally stunning.

Luke9815 Apr 29, 2005 06:30 PM

Of course I have to post on this...lol

They were both WC...they are both very different from one another and I don't think either of them have been bred...I know Renaissance was trying to breed the Paragon this year but I'm not sure of the luck they had...
I also hear of another Paragon in a private collection...but I can't be certain of it...but we'll see soon I'm sure

You sound just as intrigued and excited about that snake (particularly) as i and many others are.. you say there may be another in a private collection? now thatd be fantastic! On the original paragon thread someone mentioned (i think) that dave and tracy barker had one too... or was it dan and collete? i cant remember But i suspect the snake they were refering to was the burgandy albino...

I just dont get how a snake can look that... beautiful lol i mean in terms of trying to figure out what characteristics have given it that look its pretty hard to say it looks so creamy and nice.. most morphs are straight forward to define: Pastel - lots of blushing, high red, high yellow, jungle pattern, eye colour etc....

but the paragon? i just cant get from normal ball python colours ---> paragon colours in my head - i just cant tell whats 'missing' i mean theres only so much you can do with only so many pigments, right?

hence this thread- wanted to see if anyone else has any ideas

Yes it was the Burgandy albino they posted it here a couple of days ago:

The Paragon was found in the wild. We brought her into the United States a couple of years ago. She is alive and well...and breeding.

The link below will take you to a couple of recent pictures of her.
