There is a new post on the indigo forum by Dean Allessandrini that should interest anyone who breeds gray-bands or any other species with finicky babies. It is almost unbelieveable, but maybe worth a try.

It's about scenting eggs with a food item to "imprint" the babies on something you want them to eat. The T-Rex guy Dean is talking about wrote an article in 1999 about this and did a chat at kingsnake.com:

I'm not sure (I did a search and couldn't find anything)but I seem to recall a few people trying this to get lizard eaters to take pinkies and got much less spectacular results. Maybe it only works with strawberries...

This is an interesting concept, but, I am rather confused at all of the hoopla over the feeding difficulties etc. I have been scenting pinkies and lizards with vermiculite and perlite for years. All of my baby herps feed just great.
