Here are some of Isis's eggs

sunfox Apr 28, 2005 09:48 PM

I didn't take a pic of them with the top off because they are set and my camera's batteries cut out on me.

The black spots on the eggs are grains of black desert sand I added to their tank a month ago.

are the grains stuck to or embeded/an integral part of the egg? Congrats!

The grains are only stuck on the eggs. I didn't want to brush them off for fear of damaging them. Eggs shouldn't be handled any more than necessary.

That's awsome! Maybe our eggs will hatch at the same time(I just got a clutch of geyri eggs!)I know from your last post that you were concerned that the eggs may not be fertile. An easy way to tell is, each fertile egg will have a visible red circle showing! Good luck!!

Congrats! They look great compared to the eggs Roxy laid. I think it was because of the hot sand (buried them under the spot). What's that white stuff in the incubator?

Tell Isis...

it is perlite. I've heard that it is more forgiving about excess moisture than vermiculite so I thought I'd give it a shot. So far, it seems to be working out pretty good.
Isis is quite the proud parent but I've had to separate her and Ra for now (she kept snipping at him). I'll try a reintroduction later once she's out of "mommy" mode.
I still think your eggs will turn out better than mine because I don't even know if mine are viable yet. I haven't really checked for a red spot since I was more concerned with getting them into the incubator with minimal handling. I'll check once I open the incubator for air exchange at the end of this week.

Congrats on your eggs too. May you be blessed with the pitter-patter of little uro feet soon.
