Sorry, I quoted the post and it didn't display on the last post.

Hi Chris,

So 1 centrum or '1 a day' pushed down a thawed rats throat for a 5' caiman would be sufficient? and how often?

I've never used vitamins for him, but could see this being successful (if this is what was meant).

BTW, thanks for the book.....

Rob

Hi Rob,

Yes, I use a simple multivitamin, usually the cheapest human variety I can find and simply place it in a prey item. If I'm using whole animals frequently I may give the vitamin once per month or so.

If I'm offering less complete food items(chicken parts, fish, beef) I give them more often- weekly to biweekly.

Hope this helps. Sorry for the delayed response. I haven't been by the computer much this week.

I forced a centrum into the the throat and mouth of a thawed rat, and it started to disolve as soon as it became wet. He held the rat for a few minutes before swallowing, so i'm assuming he injested at least some of the vitamin.

I think next time i'll try a 'one a day' because they are smaller and if I remember correctly, they have more of a coating on the outside.

Thanks for the idea!

Rob
