I will be camping in the Sabine National Forest in deep east Texas next week. I was wondering if Kisatchie corn snakes can be found there. Anyone who has herped in this area and has any good observations, please let me know what to look for. thanks

I have never found them there, but there are records for corns in those counties and they would be E. g. slowinskii or "Kisatchie" Corns.
Around here (College Station) they are snakes of open post oak woodlands, but you won't find that kind of habitat in the Sabine NF. I would suggest upland areas, such as those typical of corns further east. You will probably have to find them at night at this time of year. Try roadhunting some of the upland forest roads.

I've herped that area pretty hard once or twice this year. Bring a camera if you want, but don't plan to collect since I believe it to be illegal to collect from the NF ...and be prepared for ticks if you get out in the filed...lol.

That area is kinda likr a slightly drier version of Kisatchie NF, so I expect they'll be found in areas closer to where they are found in LA than the ones arounf College Station. (Where they are found here in College Station surprised me, to tell you the truth, butthey are more emoryi-like than the ones in Louisiana.)
