cost of keeping a leopard gecko

rubymaser Apr 29, 2005 09:04 AM

Hi all,

I have been researching leopard geckos and am considering getting one. I was wondering if anyone could estimate the monthly cost of one. I have turtles and know reptiles can be a lot more expensive to keep than most people think

I already have a tank, lighting, and under tank heat pad.

Thanks!
Kathlyn

A healthy leo does not cost much on a monthly basis, basically the cost of food (more for babies as they eat more, less for adults) and of clean substrate. The cost of substrate of course depends on what you are using, if you are using paper towels or newpaper, for example, it is close to free. The one expense that does need to be factored in is you should always try to have some money set aside for medical emergencies, and yearly physical exam with your vetrinarian

You should definetly get what, no matter how much it cost. They are sooooo worth it, i just got mine a week ago and hes awesome. But i guess the price depends on how much u wanna spoil them, like mine i do a lot, i buy him so much food. hahah good luck and have fun
