sounds like it might possibly be burns. do you use a heat pad/mat/rock or anything similar? and if so is it temperature controlled. that is my first thought but it could be a multitude of things.

Why are you spraying Provent-a-mite every 30 days. Does your boa have mites?

I spray my cages about every 30 days or so

Not necessary unless you get Boas in all the time with mites. New Boa's cages should be sprayed down(should be quarantined) and that should do the trick. I don't like using chemicals no matter what anyone says, so I try to use the PAM sparingly.

I was sold a Boa with mites when I first got back into snakes and they are a nightmare. Never had a mite on an animal until then(and I worked a Reptile shop as a kid). My collection is clean and I make sure not to open new packages upstairs in my snake room. Always open new packages away and fully inspect them. It helps getting snakes from reputable sellers but there is always a chance a mother blood sucker is tagging along.

I did use PAM and I have been mite free for awhile now. Everyone has their own ways though but I would never spray the animal directly with any chemicals unless it has been thouroughly tested for such use.

i didnt read that right the first time .. provent a mite is not bad if your just spraying the cage, but it says that it is not intended for use on the animal. i hope your not spraying it on the animal and are waiting for all surfaces to be dry before puting it back in the cage. that is what the directions say to do and i would think that if you are spraying the animal that could be the problem.

All the white crap could be all the crud you are spraying all over the place. Really though, instead of trying to treat for everything under the sun, how about identifying the problem with the help of a veterinarian and treat for that.

Also, PAM is a chemical too. Follow the directions closely on any product that you use and everything should go smoothly. Don't sautee your boa in medium heat

Only one or two products are actually labeled for use on reptiles. I believe proventomite is one of them.

your right it doesnt say it cant be sprayed on the reptiles. sorry i was thinking of another product. but it says not to breathe the vapors? i just spray the cages and not the reptile and it works.
