Regurgitation Problems

croc27 Apr 29, 2005 04:47 PM

I have two GTPs in the same set up and my female (20 months old)has regurged the past 3 meals. I have not done anything to stress them out and their temp and humidity cycle has not changed. So does any one have any ideas on why she may be doing this?

Sometimes, when you keep 2 animals together, over time one will eventually become dominant and stress out the other to the point where it can cause regurgitation. I had this happen to me many years ago with a pair of boas which I was raising up in the same enclosure. When they were about 1 1/2 years old, the female out of nowhere started to regurge every meal because they were getting larger and the male was stressing her out. What worked for me and what I suggest you do is separate them permanently and then wait at least 14 days before attemping to feed your female again (feed a much smaller meal) and then at least 10-14 days for the next meal (again a smaller meal). This will break the cycle of regurgitation and by separating them you will remove the stress. ---------RON
P.s. Waiting an extended period of time between meals and feeding much smaller meals are critical steps to prevent future regurgitations.

Thanks for the info. With that in mind I will start looking for a stackable setup. I just hope that its that simple.
