I know you guys can think of some way to make this pic better, so let me here it.

It is a good shot technically. The lighting is good, the depth of field is just right, the focus is good.

To make the shot more have more "punch" try and take it when the snake is looking more forward into the frame, rather than back out of the frame. It doesn't need to be looking straight at you, just more in your direction. It gives the photo more "visual appeal".

Also, start experimenting with different compositions, rather than just the "bullseye". You don't necessarily always want your subject dead center in the frame.
Learn about the rule of thirds (search this forum or online other places) and try repositioning with that general rule in mind.

I will certainly keep that in mind. I am hoping that it will warm up here in Ohio sometime soon and I will get an opportunity to take them outside for some better, more natural looking shots.
