How big do Chuckwallas get?

casesilva Apr 29, 2005 08:48 PM

Hi,
I was just wondering how large these guys get (length and weight). I have been trying to get info on the web, but it seems like this is the best place to get all of the up to date and correct info from really great people, who love chucks!!

Adult size is somewhat variable depending on sex and locality. I've seen 12" - 18" listed on most of the sites I've ran across. This is a pic of the largest chuck I've caught, he was at least 16" head to tail.

He was caught near Red Rock in the Mojave, all the males I've run across out there have looked a lot like this guy.
