Apr 29, 2005 08:58 PM

FLORIDA TODAY (Melbourne, Florida) 29 April 05 Alligator snatches family's pet dog in C. Florida
An alligator grabbed and ate an Orange County couple's pet dog as a family fed some ducks at a pond, according to WKMG Local 6 News.
The Tredell family was outside its home in the Raintree subdivision in Hunter's Creek on Thursday when its Jack Russell terrier, Gizmo, ran outside.
The dog was chasing some ducks near the edge of the water when an alligator jumped out of the water and grabbed the dog.
"RJ opened the door to throw some bread out to the ducks and Gizmo ran out between his legs and went chasing after the ducks, and a couple of seconds later he was in the water and the gator came like that," dog owner Cathy Tredell said.
Recently, there have been several complaints of alligators in the area, Local 6 News reported.

WFTV (Orlando, Florida) 29 April 05 Family's Dog Eaten By Alligator After Chasing Ducks To Pond
Orange County, Fla. : An Orange County family is devastated after one of their dogs was attacked and killed by an alligator on Thursday.
R.J. Trudell opened the door of his Hunter's Creek home to feed some ducks in the yard. Gizmo, one of the Trudell's Jack Russell terriers, darted out the door and ran after the ducks, chasing them into the pond.
That's when an alligator grabbed him.
"The first thing I yelled was, 'Kathy, get a towel, because Gizmo's gonna be wet.' It didn't even come to my mind that there was even the gator there or didn't even notice him," explained Trudell.
Nuisance Control came out to the Trudell's home after the attack. They trapped the five and a half foot gator and killed it.

That sucks!! I hate hearing that. I think the family should be punished for not having their animals under control and causing the death of an innocent alligator, just doing what it needed to do to survive.
