Floating Frogs?

gonexenopus Apr 29, 2005 10:47 PM

anyone here keep floating frogs?

my local petstore just got a whole bunch of them in for .99 cents each! so i got a bunch, they are around nickle sized and eating pin head crickets like its their job! LOL

i've got them in a 5 gallon (for now) with a small heater. they've got two rocks and a piece of drift wood to crawl out on.

they are way cute. this is only the 2nd time i've seen them in petstores. the first time was 3 years ago and by the time i went home, researched the frog, came back the next day to get the right supplies, they were all sold!

just wondering if there is anyone else out there who keeps them so we can trade husbandry tips. i understand they are new to the trade.

I used to have 2 of them and I had them for 7 or 8 years. They looked like sumo wrestlers. I fed them feeder guppies, which they ate with gusto! I would get 2 - 3 dozen a week I kept them in a filtered 10 gallon tank with a heater. they are easily kept, but cleanliness is a must. They even 'sang' at night, and their 'croak' is a wierd sound, so after they reach adulthood, they may make strange sounds! Have fun with them. They are not a frog to be handled, but you can fix up the tank with gravel and plants and they are quite cool! They died within a week of each other, of what I don't know. They gave no indication of any ill health. I am not sure of their life span, but I think maybe they were 'old'.
