i was wondering if anyone ever heard of reptile groth hormone?id love to get my hands on some if it was available like human,avian,or bovine growth hormone was.i would really help in my quest to obtain a 15"leopard gecko.humans who have a natural over production of groth hormone ofter reach 8ft tall,and midgets are given it as children to achive normal hights.maybe since reptiles are related to birds to some extent,avian GH would work on reptiles?.and to any animal rights nuts who are itching to tell me how wrong it would be to pump my pet full of drugs,well this topic is only for discussion.besides,you guys eat animals that are pumped full of GH everyday.its a dirty little secret of the american farming industry.europe and canada made it illegal years ago,but in americas quest to always be bigger and better,we see no problem with it.

Why don't you just buy a gecko thats from "giant" lines, instead of pumping your guys full of GH? It's a heck of alot healthier. If you don't know what you're doing with stuff like, you're likely to cause alot of problems. You have to properly supplement protiens and such, and watch that they don't end up with health disorders like diabetes (I'm not sure if leos can get that) and the such.

And how would I know this?? I used to date a body builder, who pupmed himself full of GH. Very carefully, due to the fact that MANY that do end up with diabetes or kidney failure and die from it.

Leave nature to it's course.

Oh yea, I don't eat anything with GH--everything I eat is hormone free because I don't support that stuff. It's not fair to force something to be what it isn't.

Yes, too much GH in the system can cause "giantism" such as was seen in andre the giant. This condition causes the bones to thicken. I am not sure of the effects of this in leopard gecko's but i can only assume that unless done by a real professional they would be disastorous. And even if they wree a real professional, im not really sure they should be doing it at all. It seems so wrong to do it to cows and other animals, why is it right for leo's?

I agree, there are already leos of the giant line that get much bigger than normal. Why not get one of those?

i though i made it clear but ill try again.i dont intend on pumping my gecko full of GH..i dont even have a leopard gecko.i breed green tree pythons.anyway,i was just curious if it would be possible and if reptile growth hormone was different than avian or human for that matter,or if it was chemically the same.my understanding is that most other hormones(testoserone,estrogen ect.)are chemically the same,no matter what animal they are in,just curious about growth hormone.i knew i was going the get a responce like that when i posted the question just didnt think it was going to be that quick and that bad.ha ha ..you warned me about "juicing my gecko on roids"because your boyfriend did that and he had kidney failure..should i also be worried about my gecko losing his hair?,or maybe his testicles may shrink?.let me stop..its really not funny,a gecko on a roid rage is no laughing matter.

First off, read the messages right. I said that I know of people, my ex not one of them, through my ex who have done GH and suffered fatal consquences, like diabetes and kidney failure, because of it. Secondly, I think the idea of it is sick. Anyone who would think of doing that to themselves or their animals are sick. There are other NATURAL ways to get larger critters, that are SAFER than pumping them full of synthetic materials to do that.

wouldnt work anyways, well at least human or cattle gh, insulan levels are different, adrenal glands, protein synthesis, it may grow the heart bigger but not much else imho

I dont believe anyone was saying you were planning on pumping your gecko full of steriods...only that it would be a bad idea regardless. And you did say: "it would really help in my quest to obtain a 15"leopard gecko" which sort of insinuated that you were thinking of maybe tampering with GH.

As far as the make up of GH in different species of animals i am really not sure...
